Our History

The Good Hope Missionary Church was incorporated in 1962. Deacon Cleveland Carty and his wife Nora Carty were immensely responsible for its founding. They began having worship services with a small group of members in their basement at 235 Vermont Street, Brooklyn N.Y. The church grew in membership and the church acquired their first official location at 2241 Pitkin Avenue. The congregation continued to grow spiritually and numerically. In 1971, a property at 571 Liberty Avenue was purchased and it now serves as the headquarters for the church.

Over the years, many have served as leaders in this organization. The first pastor was Rev. Joseph Hutchinson. Others include Rev. S Hawthorne, Rev. S. A. Brown, Rev. G. Ramdhani and Rev Titus Meatley. It was under the leadership of Rev. Ramdhani that GHMC located at 406 Jersey Street, Staten Island was inaugurated in 1976. The Rev. Norman Tyndale was installed and served until his retirement in 2005.

The church is currently under the leadership of Sen. Pastor Desmond Harvey. The Good Hope Missionary Churches by virtue of its constitution, tenets of faith, covenant of membership and leadership is one entity.
